I'm going to talk about "Look Who's Back" by Timur Vernes. The book is set in Berlin in 2011 when Hitler wakes up in the middle of the city still wearing the Führer uniform and not knowing what has happened after his death, 66 years ago. He feels very confused; everything had changed since the last time he had been in Berlin. No wall, no big posters of his face, no bombings. What could he do? In that moment, he sees some young guys playing basketball who he assumes that are from the Hitler Youth. Any of the guys knew who Goebbles or Bormann were, so something should have happened. He starts looking for a newsstand to check out if something happened. He finally finds one where he discovers it is 2011. Then, he comprehends that the Turks must have taken over Berlin and he must do something! After giving a few speeches on the street the newsagent, who thinks he is an actor or a comedian, arranges a meeting with some TV producers. There, everyone thinks he is a genius. No one could imitate Hitler better. Soon he has a TV show on the prime time and the audience increases and increases almost unstoppably. He thinks he is recovering his Reich but he is actually on a macabre comedy show. As his popularity grows, his lust for power gets bigger. You’ll have to read this book to know how it ends but I can only tell you that you won’t regret it! I highly recommend it because it’s hilarious! You’ll see Hitler’s struggles to take over Berlin but actually, everyone is laughing at him, Also, it has some social critic and opens a whole new point of view of the neo-Nazi culture.
The film about what I am going to talk is ''Instructions not included'' by Eugenio Derbez. It is a comedy and drama film which is set in Mexico when the main actor is informed that he has a baby girl and baby's mother gives her to him for he look after her. The main characters are Valentin, who is single, skirt chaser, irresponsible and courageous. He matures and he becomes a 'good' father. Maggie admires her father and she dreams with know who is her mother. When she is 7 years, her mother shows up and Valentin realizes that he could lose his only family, Maggie, so if he doesn't lose his daughter he will fight for preserve her. If you want to know what happen finally with Maggie you should watch it because I am sure that you don't hope the end and you will be surprised. Don't miss it! I´m going to talk about the book "The Little prince". It´s a short novel with a philosophical thematic written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in 1943. The book is about a pilot who crashes in the Sahara desert. While he is trying to fix his plane, he meets the little prince, a very curious young boy who comes from the Asteroid B-612. He takes care of his planet cleaning the volcanoes and pulling up the baobabs, he also looks after an arrogant rose. With melancholy, the young boy tells his story to the pilot who is more and more interested. They become close friends. To know how it ends you will have to read it, it´s really interesting! I really liked it because it helps you to open your eyes and see the world in a different way by giving more attention to feelings, friends and love. It´s a short book that may looks simple, but it isn´t: everything has a double meaning and nothing is put randomly. It puts special emphasis in all the things that the adults think are important (the money, a good job, the reputation...) but sincerely they aren´t. A lot of people think that it´s a tale for children, because of his vocabulary and illustrations, but it´s a book that should be read in the adolescence because at this age the innocence isn´t gone for complete and is when you start to be aware of things. Is my favourite book and I strongly recommend it. It´s really enjoyable and is a proof that a book doesn´t need to be long to be good. To totally understand it you need to analyse each word and phrase. The best thing about this book is that each person can find a different sense by applying it to his life.
I’m going to talk about “The Magician’s Nephew” by C.S. Lewis. This is a fantasy adventure book which is the first book of “The Chronicles of Narnia". The book is set in early 20th-century England. This book tells the story of Digory and his new neighbour, Polly, who are magically taken to a forest by the power of the four rings of Digory’ uncle, Andrew, the green ones are to go to other worlds and the yellow ones are to come back to the real world. In the forest they can see different puddles that are doors to different worlds. They get into a world called Charn where they wake up Jadis (The white witch). She follows them to the real world and they end up in a world where there is only darkness, it is like the void. There appears Aslan, the lion, the creator of Narnia, Digory and Polly can’t let Jadis come into Narnia. What would happen? Don’t miss it! This is one of the best books that I’ve read because I love “The Chronicles of Narnia” and this book explains the creation of that beautiful world Narnia is. I recommend the book because the best thing about it is that it’s not the typical fantasy book about dragons and wizards, it’s about friendship, love and courage. This book doesn’t have a film so you would have to read it to know the end! By: Amanda Peña 1BC

The film that I have chosen is Law Abiding Citizen. It is a 2009 American film directed by F. Gary Gray. The film was written by Kurt Wimmer and was starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. The film is set in Philadelphia. It’s considered an action movie.
The film tells the story of Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is a man who has lost everything: his wife and daughter were brutally killed, but the criminals weren’t convicted. The responsibility of this injustice is Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), the assistant district attorney, who made a pact with the lawyer of one of the murderers. When Clyde discovers that agreement, he decides to take revenge. The best part of the film is when Clyde kills and tortures the murderers of his family because he tries make them feel what he had felt before, and it was very real. The worse part of the film is when they discovered his plan: destroying the building of the Supreme Court. However Nick Rice kills him with the same bomb that Clyde had made.
In my opinion is a very good movie because the actors play their role very well. It explains very well the problem between justice and revenge. I would recommend it.

I'm going to talk about the movie "Titanic" this movie was set in United States in 1997. This movie talk about the deaths of many third class passengers in this show reflected deeply the unfair treatment society had towards people of different social status. People of a higher status was treated in a better manner than those with a lower status. And is talking about a poor man or rich man, ought to have a equal chance at life. Titanic was interesting movie. On the surface, it appeared to be a love story between two passengers on board the ship, but in reality, it contained many themes that were larger than just the theme of a love relationship between a poor guy and a rich lady. What I saw in Titanic I still saw today in the world around me, that difference in treatment towards the poor and the rich. The value of life a human being ought not be measured by what he or she owned, had or could do. by: Aristote Choma Marara

While he is trying to fix his plane, he meets the little prince, a very curious young boy who comes from the Asteroid B-612.

ResponderEliminarThis is one of the best books that I’ve read because I love “The Chronicles of Narnia” and this book explains the creation of that beautiful world Narnia is. I recommend the book because the best thing about it is that it’s not the typical fantasy book about dragons and wizards, it’s about friendship, love and courage. This book doesn’t have a film so you would have to read it to know the end!

One day, the boy, Strato Nyman, literally finds a way to become invisible and he begins to understand what really happens.

The film that I have chosen is Law Abiding Citizen. It is a 2009 American film directed by F. Gary Gray. The film was written by Kurt Wimmer and was starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. The film is set in Philadelphia. It’s considered an action movie.
ResponderEliminarThe film tells the story of Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is a man who has lost everything: his wife and daughter were brutally killed, but the criminals weren’t convicted.

I'm going to talk about the movie "Titanic"
ResponderEliminarthis movie was set in United States in 1997.
