Do I speak English?

Or Spanish? Or German? How good is my French/Chinese/whatever the second-third-fourth language one might study?

There is a way to answer this tricky question! More even, there is a way to get your language-learning going: starting with the evaluation of your current level to setting goals, monitoring the progress, and getting a dossier of your experience with the language. The answer you're looking for is called the European Portfolio of Languages.

The European Portfolio of Languages in electronic format (also e-PEL+14) is technically a document based on the Council of Europe guidelines set in the Common European Framework of Reference for languages.

The Portfolio is created to help you plan your learning, visualize your progress, discern what type of methodology suits you, and consequently enhance your autonomy as a language learner, and motivate you to continue learning languages.

At the same time, it is quite informative because the passport and the dossier you can download upon completing your personal profile offer you the possibility to demonstrate your knowledge of languages, to give clear and understandable information in Europe about your competence, learning and use of languages.

Through this website https://www.educacion.gob.es/e-pel/ you can prepare and manage your e-PEL+14 for each language you select.

You can access your Portfolio from anywhere in the world and keep the content updated. This way you can be mindful and plan your learning more easily.

Each e-PEL+14 is divided into three parts: Biography, Dossier and Passport.

We advise you to take a look at the following recommendations before working on your e-PEL+14 for the first time:
